Maryville City Schools Foundation annually awards college scholarships through designated funds to graduating Maryville High Schools seniors.
Scholarships are payable to the student's college/university of choice. All scholarships with the exception of the Lamar Alexander Scholarship Program may be applied for through the Maryville High School Guidance Office.
Ft. Craig Scholarship
This scholarship is eligible for any Maryville High School (MHS) graduating senior who attended Fort Craig School of Dynamic Learning and plans to attend an educational institution after high school. The annual one-time scholarship of $750 is payable to the college or university of choice.
The fund was made possible through the Fort Craig Boosters on July 23, 2012 following the closing of Fort Craig Elementary School. Students Interested in applying for the scholarship should contact their guidance counselor in the Maryville High School Guidance Office.
William Bennett Scott Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2015 to provide scholarships to African-American students at Maryville High School enrolling in a four year college or university. The first scholarship was awarded to a 2016 MHS graduating senior in the amount of $6,000 payable to the college or university of choice. It is a year-to-year renewable scholarship award now at $6,500 per year. Students must maintain a C average, perform eight hours of community service each semester, and keep a monthly journal during their freshman year. Students interested in applying for the scholarship should contact their guidance counselor in the Maryville High School Guidance Office.
Lamar Alexander Scholarships
This scholarship is designated for graduating Maryville High School seniors who have been inducted into the Maryville Scholars Program. Five annual scholarships may be awarded. The top two scholarships are $25,000 and $15,000 each payable over four years with up to three runner-ups receiving a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000. A fund has been established at East Tennessee Foundation to sustain the scholarships. Students are nominated and selected by the teachers of Maryville High School. Maryville City Schools Foundation currently funds $43,000 annually in Lamar Alexander Scholarships.
Stanley B. “Skeeter” Shields Scholarship
This scholarship provides a graduating senior from Maryville High School with a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,300 payable to the college or university of choice. The scholarship rewards a student who demonstrates a positive attitude in all aspects of citizenship. The scholarship was established by the City of Maryville through memorial contributions at the time Mayor Shields’ death. Students Interested in applying for the scholarship should contact their guidance counselor in the Maryville High School Guidance Office.
